All About Me

Hello there. My name is Jim. You may remember me from previous internet heaps like Jimmel's Livejournal and JimL2's Unofficial JimL2 Fan Site. Now, thanks to the kind people at the RapidFish Conglomorate ("We're Hometown Friendly!") you'll be able to remember me from here, at Rapidjim's RapidFishsite. Uhm, I'll probably think up a better name later.

Well now that you know what this is, I see I've carefully dodged the subject matter that I so boldly made the title of this article. And since I'm banging this out in Notepad, the title has been lost in a sea of <s and /s. So I can't just take the easy way out.

Who I Am
Part The First: Biography.

I was born in March of 1984, making me both a pisces and of legal age to purchase tobacco and pornography from all the places that matter. If I smoked, or needed to buy pornography, I would probably be much more excited about this prospect than I currently am. However, due to my age, I am also attending college in the midwest. Although I was born and raised in New England, my parents were travel "nuts", and I have been from one end of America to the other in a conversion van with my family (several times), as well as some of southern Canada, Ireland, Scotland, England, Germany, Luxembourg, The Netherlands, France, and Belgium. I am a Junior Park Ranger at an estimated seven national parks. I don't know how many you have to do before they make you a real park ranger, but apparently it's more than seven. I have been on the internet since 1995, which means since I was about 11. I have been building webpages for probably the same amount of time, and hopefully the quality has gotten somewhat better. I've stopped ranting about Hanson, at any rate. I made my highschool band's webpage. I've been using computers in general since I can remember, probably around first or second grade with a "Blue Chip" PC my father bought. Related notes: My parents owned a VIC-20 which my father (math & philosophy background) got bored of programming, my great-uncle and his wife are some of the original computer nerds, my grandfather tought programming (he has a doctorate in Biology. I am named after him.), and my uncle is in the computer industry. Although I can't code well enough to amount to anything, I appreciate very much the skill shown by sceners. I am writing this in Notepad on a Gateway 600X with Windows XP Pro. I have had some experience with Linux, in RedHat 7.2 and Corel 3.1 versions. My advice for new users is to avoid Corel. That and allot yourself about twice as much time as you think you'll need to solve a problem, because just when you think you have it solved you'll realize there's been a wrench in the works the whole time just waiting for you, and then you'll have to go to some obscure website written in Russian and find a program to supplement your operating system, but to make that run you'll need to browse through the three-year-old archives of some guy's BBS and find the instructions to compile your own drivers... basically it's very much like Zork. So if you liked Zork, run Linux. Note: the time allotment rule can probably be applied to just about everything. Or you could just do everything halfassed. Speaking of that, I have two younger brothers, and a Bichon Frise named "Snowball." I have had one previous girlfriend, one platonic little sister, and one platonic big sister. I have one current female interest who is just now my girlfriend. Yay! My heart has been broken two and a half times. I have experienced symptoms of ADHD, OCD, and Bipolarity. I am not currently on any medications. I use corrective lenses. My hair is dark brown, as are my eyes. I would describe my features as Belgian-Irish. My music choices are very eclectic, but my favorite bands may well be listed as Neutral Milk Hotel, Ben Folds (and his Five), Barenaked Ladies (though I prefer their "older stuff", to use a cliche), Beastie Boys, Catch 22, sometimes Cake, Spencer Albee because I know his cousins, godspeed you black emperor!, The Hippos, Jurassic Five, maybe James Kochalka Superstar maybe, Kemuri, Marine Research, MC Hawking, Moloko, Trent Reznor's Nine Inch Nails, The Presidents of The United States of America, and who knows who I've missed. My favorite TV shows are easier, those being: Mystery Science Theater 3000, Late Night With Conan O'Brien, Due South, Babylon 5, Iron Chef, and Aqua Teen Hunger Force. My favorite anime series are Tenchi Muyo! and Cowboy Bebop. I have been known to enjoy some hentai (though it was probably technically more ecchi than hentai. I'm not that sick). I have over 120 VHS tapes in my room, upwards of 40 of which are completely and totally unlabeled. My favorite president may very well be Andrew Jackson, despite what I think about his policies towards the indians and The Supreme Court. Oh man, that Jackson. Lincoln, Madison and of course Washington are close too. I am politically an independent, which liberal leanings. I would have voted for Nader. I have no problems with any sexual orientation, unless they're just doing it for attention. The same go for fetishes, unless the fetishist breaks the law/impinges on somebody else's personal freedoms. I judge people on a person-by-person basis. I give little leniency to rude and mean people. I think there's a thin line between mean and funny, and it's constantly shifting. My least favorite Monty Python sketch is "Salad Days." I recommend the following books: "Snow Crash" by Neal Stephenson, "The Man Who Folded Himself" by David Gerrold, and "House of Leaves" by Mark Z. Danielewski. I was in NH All-State Chorus for Bass. I have played "Nahum The Drunk" and Conrad Birdie. I have been making amateur videos, tapes, and taking photographs since pre-middle school. That doesn't necessarily mean I'm especially good at any of them. I am currently taking a class to become a licensed DJ for the college station. I have my own highschool-recognized club, The JLAS (Jim L Appreciation Society), with over 110 members in 4+ states. I can be contacted at JimL2/at/Zombieworld.com .
